Foreigners must register with the Taiwan Stock Exchange through a designated domestic agent (custodian bank) or representative. Once the registration is complete, they may submit the required documents to a securities broker to open an account for buying and selling securities.

When foreigners apply for registration, they should prepare the following documents: letter of authorization of agent or letter of designation of representative, and identity document.

After the system's online verification is correct, the Taiwan Stock Exchange will issue a "Certificate of Completion of Registration".

The agent (or representative) shall submit the following documents to open an account with the securities firm:

1. A copy of the domestic agent or representative’s national identity card, residence permit or company registration certificate

2. Complete the registration certificate
