Opening a Bank Account in Taiwan as a Foreigner: Essential Documents and Guidelines
Documents Required for Foreign Individuals to Open a Bank Account in Taiwan:
1.Foreigners holding a Residence Certificate issued by the Ministry of the Interior and stateless individuals:
They must provide their Residence Certificate along with other forms of identification with distinguishing features, such as a National Health Insurance card, passport, driver’s license, or student ID, to serve as dual identification.
2.Foreigners without a Residence Certificate (i.e., foreigners without a domicile in Taiwan) and stateless individuals:
They should present their valid entry visa (or entry stamp) and foreign passport, or the Overseas Chinese Certificate issued by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, along with the National Identification Number (UI No.) form.
Please note that foreigners without a domicile in Taiwan (i.e., those who have not obtained a residence permit) are not allowed to open a checking account.
